Carte de St Gengoux le National
UDOTSI

Welcome to Saint-Gengoux the National situated in Saône and Loire, the southern area of Burgundy

St-Gengoux and its nineteen dependant villages are built from local stone. They offer a quite and friendly way of life.

The Greenway, a 100 kilometer long well surfaced former railway line where you can walk, cycle or roller skate has many panoramic areas. There are many bridle paths that roam over the hills or through forests.

The rivers Grosne, Guye and Grison provide very good fishing.

Try the wine field road from Chalon sur Saône to Macon. Many restaurants in the area offer local produce, charollais beef, cheese-goat-cow and sheep.

In the area are several castles, many medieval churches, old public wash houses and kilometers of dry stone walls.

The spiritual community of Taizé is near as are the four Cluny sites listed with the European Institute of Culture.

Artists in the area gain inspiration from their surroundings, there also are potteries and sculptures.

Choose your accomodation from: hotels, rental cottages, bed and breakfast, country inns and camp sites.

During your stay in South Burgondy our Tourist Office, open all the year, will help you with advice, ideas and general assitance.
